Chassidy and her sweet babe

Meet Chassidy Owner of EverBee Wraps:

“My name is Chassidy Bielli and I’m the mama behind EverBee Wraps. I started this little adventure February 2020 just wanting to dip my toes into making bows and ended up fully submerged going full time by January 2021. My little one at home is who sparked my interest in curating our “perfect” bow! Her and my husband are my driving force!”

There is truly nothing better than working for yourself while staying home with your children. Though challenging at time, it’s beyond rewarding.

“One full year into business and EverBee has turned into more than just bows. I now offer wraps, mini bow on clips and nylon, women’s headbands, and mommy + me sets. My absolute favorite part though is that tons of our designs are actually hand pressed in house! This small business of mine is
nowhere near done growing and I’m ecstatic to see what the future is holding.”

How gorgeous is this floral? Yellow is my favorite color so this was a winner!

I found EverBee Wraps through Tiktok! I was scrolling through my notifications and Chassidy had commented on one of my videos of Elsie. I saw “headwraps” in the name and clicked over to her profile. I have a pretty well known bow addiction and I am always on the prowl for the best bows! When I saw her page I knew I needed some bows and headbands from EverBee!

The chunky bow style is so cute and the prints she offered were SO unique and a neutral lover’s dream! I kept watching her videos and then went over to her instagram and was so impressed, as Chassidy stated above, she presses a lot of her own fabrics! No wonder she has such amazing and unique prints! Seriously how cool is this?

When our bows got here I fell EVEN more in love with her work. Elsie got three bows and I got a knotted headband that matched one of Elsie’s bows! I am pretty obsessed with the knotted headband look for myself, it is so easy to put on and get a “pulled together” look! You can let your hair air dry, and in a second look like you put a lot of effort into your hair that day! I also can not pass up a Mommy & Me matching opportunity! It’s my favorite.

I am obsessed with the print we got too, it has iced coffees, flowers, and cinnamon rolls on it! The iced coffee is SO me. All day everyday. It could be -15 degrees and I’m getting iced coffee. Who’s with me?

I also picked out a precious neutral and pastel rainbow bow. Elsie is my little rainbow after infertility and loss and we always have to rep the rainbow options! I’m such a big fan of this wrap!

Elsie wore her bow all day and did not get a mark on her head and my headband did not give me a headache like a lot of headbands do! So A+ on comfortability from us both. Seriously the fabric EverBee wraps uses is out of this world soft, I’m obsessed.

Check out our fun Tiktok we made showing off our EverBee wraps! Daddy really just doesn’t get it. They are not just bows, it is a way of life!

@kylasieges

We are obsessed with bows and @everbeewraps is seriously amazing! They are so soft, adjustable, and come in so many patterns! #smallbusiness #momboss

This is the beauty of shopping small, you get real people behind the product that care about the details, and that is worth celebrating and supporting!

Mom Boss Monday: Ingleside Dreams

February 22, 2021      Kyla

Hi everyone, welcome to the second week of my series Mom Boss Monday. Every Monday I will be featuring an amazing small business that is run by a Mom so that you can shop small easily, and support a Mom while doing so! I want to help empower other Moms to chase their dreams! If you missed last week’s Mom Boss Monday you can read that here. Make sure to subscribe in the sidebar on the right to make sure you never miss a Mom Boss Monday!

Meet Elena Owner of Ingleside Dreams:

“My name is Elena Wright and I’m the owner of Ingleside Dreams, a small shop where boho chic meets vintage loveliness and everything is handcrafted with care. I specialize in knit and crocheted hats, home goods, and accessories as well as handmade baby bibs. I am the mom to four little hat wearers, and they have been the inspiration for many of my pieces. I began my shop in 2016, shortly after the birth of my oldest daughter, when I began re-learning crocheting and made hats for her. Fast forward several years (and babies!) and I have added knitting and sewing to my skill set to be able to bring a variety of textures and textiles to my shop. I love the freedom and flexibility of owning my own small business and watching it grow while I stay home with my sweet babies.”

It is so much more than a source of income. It is a creative outlet for me, but even better than that, it is a way of teaching my kids about being self-sufficient and using their gifts to make the world a more beautiful place, one dream at a time.

baby custom reversible bib

I came across Elena’s shop and absolutely fell in love with her products and then I read her “about shop” section and fell in love with her business even more (I highly recommend reading it here.) My daughter Elsie is currently a faucet. She drools all day long, and honestly I am not a fan of the bibs we have. They absolutely ruin her outfits! That probably sounds silly, but it’s totally a problem for us. When I saw Elena’s bibs I knew I needed one asap!

Cute reversible bib

They are so adorable, and also functional! I love that Ingleside Dreams specializes in reversible bibs. One side has a cute print while the other is a more neutral look, but so sweet with the added accents! I can tell based on the bib I got for Elsie her products are very high quality due to her attention to detail!

Here is a tiktok we filmed featuring this adorable bib and you can see how it took pretty basic outfits to the next level!

Ingleside Dreams does not have only bibs though, she also offers a variety of different handmade and one of a kind items in her shop. I really love that Elsie has original pieces like her bib, it’s the beauty of shopping small! Ingleside Dreams has everything from reversible bibs, to mommy & me beanies, boho coasters, baby bonnets, scarves, and blankets. Unlike big box stores, each item is 100% original and one of a kind.

Do not see what you are looking for? Elena will work with you and try to bring your vision to life with a custom order, just message her to talk about the options she offers.

Head on over to Ingleside Dreams now to snag yourself, your friend, or your baby something cute and super special and follow her shop on Facebook and Instagram @inglesidedreams so you do not miss any amazing one of a kind listings and future launches!

Thank you Elena for being a part of Mom Boss Monday here on Life as Kyla and for making such a sweet piece for lil Elsie!

10 Things I Wish I Would Have Known About Breastfeeding and Pumping

February 19, 2021      Kyla

My breastfeeding journey was different than I thought it would be. I feel like I need to start with how my journey started: I had a c-section and I knew that I wanted to try nursing my daughter right away, and the nurses helped me with this. I attempted nursing as soon as I got back to the recovery room with Elsie. From the start we struggled. The nurses told me I had great form and that baby was latching well, but we continued to struggle for the next few days. Elsie was jaundice and we had to make sure she was eating. My milk had not come in yet, but I did have colostrum. We were feeding her on demand in the hospital, but I was in a lot of pain. I tried to push through and the lactation consultants kept coming to help me, but I started bleeding on my right side. My lactation consultant told me to stop and give myself a break and to supplement since my baby needed to eat to help the jaundice, at this point Elsie was under the blue lights they use to treat jaundice. I was an emotional wreck. I knew it was going to be hard, but not this hard. Essentially I tried nursing everyday for over a month and my daughter would cry, I would cry, it hurt, and it just was not working. I ended up finally giving in and exclusively pumping. I do not regret that decision at all.

So with that start in mind, here are 10 things I wish I had known about breastfeeding and pumping:

1.) It is HARD.

Real talk, from the start it was hard. I know this is not how it is for everyone, but for the majority of people I’ve talked to I’d say it’s a collective experience. I had heard it is hard at first, but you can push through and it gets a lot better. I did not experience this “gets easier” phenomenon, but I have heard a lot of Moms swear it does.

2.) It takes so much time.

You are a walking food source. You are a boob. That is all. Okay, not really, but that is what it feels like at first. You will offer your little one each breast for 20 min and then you will feed them every 2 hours starting at the time you started the feed. So if you started the feed at 2 they will need to eat again at 4. That means if your session goes 2-2:45, then you will feed again in an hour and 15 min. That is tough. It is nonstop. Then you get into cluster feeding and then that REALLY is nonstop. If you end up exclusively pumping like I did it takes twice the time, you pump and feed. I really wanted my daughter to have breastmilk though so it was worth it to me.

I kept pumping and feeding schedules on track by pumping while she napped and then waking her up and feeding her. If for some reason I had to feed her first I would do so and then I would put her in her bouncer or on her playmat and pump right after.

3.) It is all about supply and demand.

If you supplement with formula, your supply drops. If you skip a feed it will cause your supply to change. Your body makes what your baby needs. When you empty yourself then your body knows it needs to make more, when you do not it makes less. If you want to exclusively nurse you need to empty yourself every 2-3 hours around the clock to keep your supply up.

I had a really good supply, actually an oversupply and I really think it was because I emptied myself around the clock on a strict schedule. I pumped 20 minutes every 2-3 hours. I produced 70-75oz a day.

Some other ways I boosted my supply? I ate oatmeal for breakfast. I drank body armor lite (I loved these and they kept my hydration up and coconut water and the vitamins were good for my supply)! I swear by them. I took sunflower lecithin to thin my milk and prevent clogs. I kept taking my prenatals and I drank lots of water and ate healthy snacks!

4.) How to pump efficiently and operate my pump.

Why do they not tell you how to do this? I will never forget getting home from the hospital, so engorged because my milk came in, but my daughter wouldn’t latch and take a full feed and my nipples were literally bleeding and I needed to pump but didn’t know how. I was so stressed and THANK GOD for best friends who will facetime you and literally walk your through it while you cry. My friend Lily facetimed me and helped me learn what the buttons meant and calmed me down, and for that I will forever be grateful. I am going to insert a video I watched after facetiming my friend that helped. You can also just youtube search your pump and “How To” and it helps a ton! Just know how to use your pump so you don’t have an engorged meltdown a couple days postpartum like me.

Also, tip, you do NOT have to wash your pump parts after every use. Just rinse them and stick them in the fridge. Then you can wash them at the end of every day.

5.) Pumping does not hurt.

After my nipples started bleeding in the hospital, and everything hurt so bad I was terrified to pump. It sounded so much worse than a baby. It looked like a medieval torture device. I’m here to tell you, to me, it felt better than my daughter! I could control the suction. I could control the speed. The only thing I noticed was you have to get the correct flange size. Google it and it will tell you how to measure to insure you got the correct size. You can also ask the lactation consultant at the hospital and a lot of times they will help measure you! For me pumping was way more comfortable than nursing. You can avoid nursing/pumping discomfort by applying coconut or olive oil before and after you pump! Or use a nipple cream! I liked the Earth Mama organic nipple butter! It’s on amazon.

My tip is apply it before you need it. What I mean by that is do not wait until you’re cracked and bleeding and in pain, apply the nipple butter/oil/etc before your nurse and pump and after and if you’re lucky you will avoid the issue completely.

6.) Exclusively pumping is breastfeeding.

I felt a lot of guilt over not being able to nurse my daughter, but pumping is breastfeeding. The only difference is your baby is taking your milk from a bottle instead of your boob. It’s the same nutrition! Your baby is not missing out on any benefits by you pumping. If anything you are working harder because you have to pump and THEN feed your baby.

7.) Things I should have had on hand before my baby arrived.

Somethings I had that helped when my baby arrived was a nursing pillow. I did nurse for a while and the Boppy was fairly useless, instead I liked the My Breast Friend pillow which provided more support for me and my baby. The pillow is mainly to help you while you get the hang of what you’re doing and the My Breast Friend did just that.

Stock up on breast pads, pumping or nursing, it doesn’t matter, you need them. I liked the disposable because they were more absorbent. I also had tried the ones you can reuse and wash. I woke up soaked more than once. I’d skip them personally.

Pick your pump wisely, and use your insurance to get it for free if you can. I did a ton of research and got the Spectra S2. I LOVED it and do not regret it.

Buy yourself a box of spare pump parts. You will have parts break, and you may not have time to wait for the parts to come in. You will be engorged, in pain, and your supply will tank! You can just go to amazon and type in your pump and “spare parts” and it should come up! Also grab some breastmilk storage bags!

Get some nursing bras for the day, but also some to sleep in. I did not like my regular nursing bras to sleep in. These were my favorite nursing bras and these were my favorite bras to sleep in.

Also, this was a really handy trick for me. You can just rig your nursing bra to be a pumping bra! SO convenient and easy! One of my TOP tips.

Also get some bottles. You may plan to nurse, but you never know what might happen or if you want to pump and have your husband feed baby!

8.) You can get sick or infections from breastfeeding.

The first time I had these breastfeeding ailments I did not know what was happening. I had a clogged duct and it was really sore, and I went to bed. The next morning I woke up and my clogged duct hurt even more and I felt horrible. Like I had been hit by a train. My head hurt, my body ached, I felt feverish, and nauseous. I texted my friend and she told me it was probably Mastitis. I had heard of it, but had no clue it would be so bad so fast. I called my doctor and got antibiotics. That is when I started my other issue. About a week later my nipples (TMI, but I mean you clicked on a link about breastfeeding, so I’m going to be honest with you haha) were SO itchy. Like unbearable. They were really tender too. I went to the OB and showed her (you have no modesty after having a baby, prep yourself for that fam) and sure enough- I had a yeast infection on my NIPPLES. Lol. I got some prescription to take orally and cream. Just know those are possibilities and you can pass the yeast/thrush to your baby, but not the mastitis. Fun facts that you now know.

9.) You are not a bad Mom if you do not like breastfeeding.

I felt very guilty because I started to hate breastfeeding. I felt like I was always feeding her, pumping, cleaning bottles, etc. I would dream about just making a bottle with formula and how easy it would be. I kept pushing through being miserable because of the Mom guilt. I was worried that I was a bad Mom because I did not have that amazing feeling all the breastfeeding Moms had told me about. I wanted to enjoy it, I really did, but I just didn’t, and that really is okay. I am just as good of a Mom breastfeeding or not.

10.) You do not have to breastfeed at all.

You are NOT a bad Mom if you do not want to breastfeed, or if you try it and you decide you do not want to do it. Your baby will still love you. They will still grow big and strong. Do not let anyone make you feel bad if you make that decision! If you want to exclusively pump or use formula from the start there is nothing wrong with that either. Do not believe the lie that you can not bond with your baby if you do no not nurse. I physically could not, and I am so close with my baby girl. I am sure nursing is a beautiful bond, but it is not the only way to bond with your baby. It is not the end all be all. Do not feel bad if you can not or do not want to. You are still a bad ass Mama warrior.

Breastfeeding and pumping are hard, but if you can take time and find the humor in everyday situations and be kind to yourself it can be a great experience. Just do not feel pressured to do anything you do not want to do. Be motivated to do what you see as what is best for you and your baby, no matter what that feeding journey looks like for you.

Love,

INTRODUCTION:

Hi blog friends! This is an introduction to a new series on my blog called Mom Boss Monday! Every Monday for at least the next Month I will be featuring a small business that is ran by a total Boss Mom.

I am a Mom that runs a small business called Wildflower & Co and I want to support other Moms who are chasing their dreams while also raising little ones! Being a Mom in and of itself is a lot of work and the hardest job ever, but running a small business on top of it? Wow, a whole new level.

I am so excited to feature these amazing Moms and their businesses, but also to give you some amazing options on how to shop small and how to support some incredible women!

WILDFLOWER & CO:

Today I am going to start out by sharing my small business, Wildflower & Co. I want to re-introduce myself as as small business owner, my name is Kyla and my daughter Elsie is our rainbow baby after years of infertility and loss. She is the sweetest little baby in the world and I am so blessed to be her Mommy.

Wildflower & Co all started started as an idea when my daughter was in 0-3 clothes. I really wanted a personalized sweatshirt for her, specifically a neutral one, but everywhere I looked did not offer her size The smallest I could find was 2T. I decided that I could just make them in that size!

@kylasieges

Here are wildflower & co sweatshirts styled 4 ways! My shop launched yesterday on Etsy. ✨link in bio✨ #smallbusiness #baby #babygirl #babystyle

♬ Cute Outfit Check – Courtney Dempster

Surely there were other Moms looking for the same thing. We launched January 2021 and we sold out of our first batch of sweatshirts and restocked! I am so excited about where my business is headed!

I recently expanded my sweatshirts to more colors, and have a new seafoam blue on it’s way to add to the shop for the spring! I also have added personalized accessories for your littles- including sunnies and name bracelets!

I also am branching out into adult sizes and just added some fun new neutral sweatshirts and tshirts that say “Side Part & Skinny Jean Queen”! I hope to add some cute Mama sweatshirts soon so you can match with your mini!

Right now I work the most when my daughter Elsie is down for a nap and after she goes to bed or when my husband is home and can watch her. I want to create the life I have always wanted, and one day I decided, if I want to do that I have to take a chance on myself, and that is how Wildflower & Co was born.

I am so excited to share a new small business with you next week! I have no doubt you are going to LOVE it. Make sure to subscribe with your email so you do not miss a Mom Boss Monday!

DIY Baby Valentine’s Day Photoshoot

February 6, 2021      Kyla

The other day I was scrolling Tiktok and this photoshoot idea popped up and I immediately knew I needed to try it with my daughter! Here is the Tiktok I saw by @lexparties-

My daughter’s outfit was red hearts and so I decided to go with red balloons, but you could definitely do pink or white or a mixture of whatever you like. I then blew them up and used scotch tape to tape them to the wall! One tip is I taped the tabs back that were at the bottom of the balloons where you blow the air in, I liked the cleaner look!

Then we both got ready and got snapping! My sister helped and took them using portrait mode! This would be even cuter if your little one was able to sit unassisted or stand in front of the balloon wall!

I will say it really wasn’t that difficult, and they turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself!

Make sure your area is well lit!

We tried to put Elsie in her bumbo with a blanket on top, that was funny, I didn’t like how those looked! I did get a good laugh though! Just experiment! That’s how you find those cute poses eventually!

We experimented with different poses for Els and then I decided I wanted to get in a few. I am glad I did, those are my favorite!

And then my favorite…

Let me know your best Valentine’s Day photoshoot ideas, and if you choose to do this idea with your little one please send me a pic through instagram @kylasieges I would love to see it!

Have fun!

Baby Boy Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas for Photoshoot

January 31, 2021      Kyla

*This post may contain affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission at no cost to you, if you make a purchase through a link!*

Okay, my poor boy Mamas! You all get the short end of the stick when it comes to clothing! I was searching and found some cute options, but wow it’s definitely a lot harder to find cute clothes for boys! Bless y’all! (Whoops, let my southern out there, lol!)

All of these options are Amazon and Target and are super affordable just like my baby girl’s post!

It’s a lot of red. So if you hate red. I’m sorry.

Here is a super cute cable knit look with a matching top and bottom! Simplicity is something I love for little boy clothes.

Ribbed baby clothes are so cute. I don’t know what it is that makes it better, or why the wooden buttons are so adorable, but they are. I have a few of these for Elsie and they are so easy! I can see a little boy in this laying in a dock-a-tot or on a cute throw blanket for a precious Valentine’s picture!

Okay but a little boy in a beanie, there is just something so cute about it. I can’t even stand it. Some jeans, a sweatshirt/hoodie or even a tshirt and a jean jacket over it? TOO cute!

These are too precious and a really good deal! I will say there only a few more pairs when I looked last! So if you love these! RUN.

I love this simple onesie too! It would be cute with a red beanie and a jean jacket and some black pants.

Also love this black one with the same outfit idea as the onesie!

I can’t help it. I know it’s a character sweatshirt… but CMON it’s baby Yoda!! I love it so much! Would be too cute on a baby boy with some cute kicks and a smile!

I love this! My mom used to call my baby brother “Little Mister” and this reminds me of that. It would be toooo cute if you laid baby boy on a cute throw or on your bed and then kissed him with red lipstick on for a photo op!

NOW, THIS IS TOO MUCH! The tiny little suspenders! I can’t even. I don’t need to explain why this one is too cute.

This Tiny Valentine sweatshirt from my shop Wildflower & Co! You can customize it and put anything on it you want! I also have black vinyl coming in for black font if you prefer! You could even just get a custom name sweatshirt too! I think it would be too cute with a pair of jeans and a beanie! Somehow the beanies make a boys outfit to me!

Then I gave some gift ideas in my Valentine’s Baby Girl Outfit post, and they would work for boys too. You can check that out here.

I LOVE these cute bibs, especially the hunk one! Too cute.

My sister in law gave my daughter this book and it is TOO cute.

My daughter ADORES linkimals, and the panda is super cute because he’s the kindness and love others panda! He also teaches manners! He’s soft and Elsie loves to hold him! Also a great tummy time distraction since he sings and lights up.

I hope this was helpful for you boy Mamas! Wow you sure have it rough! This definitely was harder than the baby girls post!

Subscribe and tune back in this week for my super easy and cute DIY photoshoot idea with baby for Valentine’s Day!
